The title of this week’s lesson was Dream Big Dreams. This
week we read talks and watched videos about the importance of dreaming big and
not limiting yourself. In one of the videos, ‘Think Big,” Taylor Richards
talked about his experience with being listed in the top 100 dealers in North
America for the Boating Industry. He was surprised/elated when he learned that his
company was in the top 100 dealers. At the award ceremony, he thought that it
would be amazing it his business fell within the top 75 dealers. Turns out, his
company was #11 in all of North America! What I learned from this story is the
importance of shoot for the stars and not limiting yourself based on what you
think your capabilities are. It’s okay to dream big and have ambitious goals.
Another lesson that I learned this week came from a talk
given by Elder Dallin H. Oaks titled "The
Challenge to Become." In this talk, Elder Oaks talks about the importance of
not just doing, but becoming. With regards to our eternal salvation, it is not
enough to just simply go through the motions. We need to be converted; we need to strive to become more like our Heavenly Father. I think this can relate to
entrepreneurialism as well. In order to be really successful, we need to do
more than just going through the motions. We need to push ourselves and strive to
be the best entrepreneur we can be.
